The summer is coming to a close. BOOOO!!!
I'll tell you a secret...
I'm just a little bit looking forward to the new school year.
Now that I've gotten that off my chest, here's what we've squeezed in with our few precious moments of nothingness--a trip to The Narrows!
Pictured below is our dear friend the cow:
The Narrows was filled with breath-taking views, but is definitely not for the claustrophobic or the faint of heart. I thought, for example we'd do a day hike in and a day hike out. Boy, was I wrong.
Has anyone else noticed that my husband is melting away?
Pictured below are Noah's dehydrated concoctions. He's gone on this crazy, "Let's dehydrate everything, including our eyeballs!" Not really, but really, he's dehydrating EVERYTHING!

As you can see from these pictures we stayed the night. Noah and I didn't want to carry a tent so we slept under the stars which were absolutely gorgeous.
It was seriously a really long hike. 16 miles in total and I am still feeling it a week later. My foot is making this weird creaky noise that I don't really enjoy, but I hope it goes away.
Anyway, the first day was kind of a disaster where we got a late start and befriended these two boys from Wales who wanted to see "the real America." Because of our late start we ended up staying in someone else's campground because we couldn't see anything in front of us. Mind you, we were hiking in a river. A bit unnerving for sure.
By the end of the second day I had had enough walking and decided to coast down the river on my bum, and while it suffered minor bruises, my legs were very grateful for the respite.
When we finally got back to civilization, er, as close as Cedar City comes to civilization, Miranda took us out for Mexican food--
and Costco. :)
and Costco. :)
We only took two pictures in Cedar City and this is one of them. Neither of them includes Miranda. :)
Overall experience at the Shirt Lift Motel: A++++++

We hiked the narrows a few years ago and it was intense! I still have little scars on my feet from the blisters! Soooo beautiful, though.
